THE KASTURBA GANDHI BALIKA VIDYALAYA SCHEME was launched by the ministry of HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT under SARVA SKISHA AVIYAN in the year 2004 in the month of August. The name of the scheme came into existence by the name of Freedom Fighter Kasturba Gandhi wife of Mahatma Gandhi. She was the first women in the woman history to think about the gender gaps in terms of education so she decided to educate the girl child as equal to boy.So to materlised the thought of Kasturba Gandhi Government of India have started setting up residential schools at upper primary level for girls belonging predominantly to the SC , ST, OBC and minorities in difficult areas.
