1. Introduction

Welcome to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV). These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for students, parents, and staff to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive educational environment.

2. Admission Policy

  • Eligibility: Admission is open to girls from disadvantaged groups, including SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities, as well as girls from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
  • Age Limit: Girls aged 10-14 years are eligible for admission in upper primary classes (Class VI-VIII).
  • Application Process: Parents/guardians must complete the admission form and submit the required documents, including proof of age, caste certificate (if applicable), and income certificate.

3. Fees and Funding

  • Free Education: Education at KGBV is provided free of cost, including free textbooks, uniforms, and mid-day meals.
  • Residential Facilities: Hostel facilities are provided free of cost for girls who need them.

4. Attendance

  • Regular Attendance: Students are required to attend school regularly and punctually. Attendance is crucial for academic progress.
  • Leave of Absence: Parents/guardians must inform the school of any planned absences in advance. Absences due to illness must be accompanied by a medical certificate.
  • Consequences: Prolonged or frequent unexcused absences may result in counseling sessions and discussions with parents/guardians to address underlying issues.

5. Code of Conduct

  • Respect and Behavior: Students must show respect to teachers, staff, and fellow students. Any form of bullying, harassment, or violence is strictly prohibited.
  • Dress Code: Students are required to wear the prescribed school uniform during school hours and maintain personal hygiene.
  • Discipline: Misbehavior or violation of school rules will be addressed through appropriate disciplinary actions, which may include counseling, parental involvement, or other measures as deemed necessary by the school administration.

6. Academic Policies

  • Curriculum: The school follows the state/national curriculum, focusing on holistic development, including academic, co-curricular, and life skills education.
  • Homework and Assignments: Students are expected to complete homework and assignments on time. Teachers will provide necessary support and guidance.

7. Health and Safety

  • Medical Information: Parents/guardians must provide accurate medical information about their child. Regular health check-ups will be conducted.
  • Sick Policy: Students showing symptoms of contagious illnesses should stay at home until they recover. The school nurse or designated health personnel will manage minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Emergency Procedures: The school has emergency procedures in place for situations like fires, natural disasters, and other emergencies. Drills will be conducted regularly.

8. Parental Involvement

  • Communication: Parents/guardians are encouraged to maintain open communication with teachers and attend scheduled parent-teacher meetings.
  • Participation: Parents/guardians may be invited to participate in school events, workshops, and activities to foster a strong school community.

  • Hostel Regulations: Students residing in the hostel must follow all hostel rules and guidelines. This includes maintaining cleanliness, respecting hostel staff, and adhering to study and recreation schedules.
  • Leave from Hostel: Any leave from the hostel must be approved by the warden. Unauthorized absence will be addressed with appropriate measures.

10. Technology and Internet Use

  • Acceptable Use: Students must use school computers and internet facilities responsibly. Any misuse, including cyberbullying or accessing inappropriate content, will result in disciplinary action.
  • Supervision: Internet use will be supervised to ensure it is for educational purposes only.

11. Disciplinary Actions

  • Minor Infractions: Minor infractions will be addressed through warnings, counseling, or detention.
  • Serious Offenses: Serious offenses may result in suspension or expulsion, at the discretion of the school administration. Parents/guardians will be involved in resolving such issues.

12. Amendments

  • The school reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions as needed. Any significant changes will be communicated to parents/guardians in a timely manner.
